Love Your Friends Die Laughing.

Six Seasons and a Movie.

Honestly, I would probably play as FemShep a LOT more if she had a different voice actress.

Jennifer Hale’s voice is just one of those voices that I just… Don’t… Like. At all. I just can’t get into it. I don’t get why people like it. I actually really like her regular speaking voice. But when she’s voicing Commander Shepard, I just… I just don’t like it. And I really don’t know why. It’s just… Bleh. I don’t know. It’s just never felt right to me. It just kind of constantly sounds like she wants to have angry hatesex with things. It’s the same reason I don’t like Will Arnett’s voice. I mean, I love Will Arnett, but it would be near impossible for me to play a video game like Mass Effect if he was voicing the character I was playing as. Will Arnett always has this undertone of “I want to have angry hatesex with everything that crosses my path,” and it just really annoys me for some reason, and I get the same thing from Jennifer Hale’s voice. Not to mention this weird anger that FemShep seems to CONSTANTLY have. And the fact that a lot of her lines seem to be read wrong in just about every game (although I blame that primarily on the people in the booth who give her the lines and tell her how to voice them, because for the most part, she’s recorded her lines faaar away from BioWare, so it’s not necessarily a problem with her, but more a problem with the way her lines were recorded). And… I don’t know. I don’t see the appeal of it and I just… Bleh. It makes me feel like a bad person, because everyone is like “omg Mark Meer has a terrible voice and Jennifer Hale is so superior!!!111!” and I’m just kinda like “… Well… I really like Mark Meer’s voice… And I don’t really like Jennifer Hale’s voice… And I understand that this is a personal preference of mine, and I would never say that one is better than the other, so why are you saying that your favorite is better than mine .___.” and I feel backed into a corner by it a lot. And I don’t really know where I’m going with this. I guess that when I have nothing else to post about, I go off on rants about things that don’t matter. I guess I just like to get my opinion out there, because there doesn’t seem to be much representation for it. It always makes me feel bad when I’m playing as FemShep and I end up skipping 90% of Shepard’s lines, yet listening to everyone else’s, just because I don’t like her voice ._.

And nooo, it’s not just the angry hatesex thing. That’s actually a very small part of it, but it’s the only thing that I’m easily able to explain. Everything else is really abstract and difficult and bleh, I don’t know. I just don’t like her voice. But I’m sick of people saying “YOU DON’T LIKE JENNIFER HALE’S VOICE?! YOU’RE A SEXIST OMG!!!!” so then I feel the need to explain it, and then I go on these long rants, and okay, I’m just gonna stop trying to cover my ass and get back to doing other stuff
